What makes a will a valid will? 

Any person 16years and older can make a will provided that at the time of making the will they are mentally capable of appreciating the nature and effect of this act. 

The formalities of a valid will are: 
The will must be in writing 
* The signature of the testator/testatrix must appear at the end of the will. 
* This signature must be made in the presence of two or more competent witnesses.  
* Should the will comprise of more than one page the Testator/Testatrix must sign every page. 
* The witnesses must sign the will in the presence of the Testator/Testatrix all present at the same time. The witnesses need only sign the last page of the will. 
* It is preferable that the will be dated.
